KIKI ZINE! nina, the kikizine mascot

or;

how a little zine
got online

by Sarah Dyer

The smallest and most little-known part of my zine-doings, Kikizine is a personal zine I started because some of the things I wrote just didn't fit anywhere else. It's also where some of the earliest Action Girl comics actually appeared. Kikizine first came out in late 1993, and has only been published a few times since. For  some reason, although the circulation has been severely limited, I still get requests from all over the world for it. Because I don't distribute it anymore, and don't wish to keep it in print, I've decided to bring selected articles from the existing issues online, as well as give myself a place to continue spouting off when the mood rises. In retrospect a lot of the stuff I wrote was a little too goofy to reprint four years later -- so there's not much here right now. I'll be adding the comics from Kikizine and contents the Seventeen issue (and a very long update/followup) later this month, and then start adding new content as the mood takes me. Enjoy!
(PS: No, that's not Kiki up there, it's Nina, a doll I rescued and fixed up in college. Or, as my friend Bill said, "one of those voodoo dollies" of myself.)
