A few selected cool Action Girl-approved web sites for your perusal....
WomensNet@igc is the ultimate women's activism guide; with pertinent stories and info and link on all kinds of things you can do (and where). If you're looking to volunteer or make a difference somewhere, this is a good place to start.
Girl Zone is a really cool and positive website for (did you guess?) girls online. Valuable information is tempered with a sense of humor and fun -- they even have a cooking section with recipes, so you know I love that!!
Prince
Valiant was one of my favorite comics growing up (the Phantom
was the other). The originals, by Hal Foster, are just amazing, but the
new stuff is still pretty cool. You can read it here every week if you don't
get a paper (we don't).
Dream/Girl Magazine is an
arts magazine for girls, with a special emphasis on comics -- reading them
and doing them. Lots of other cool stuff there too -- it's modest but very
worthwhile.
Maple Candy from the
Green Mountain Sugar House is just what you need this fall
-- the classic leaf-shaped maple candy is one of my favorite things in the
universe. Ever since I was little I went nuts for it -- of course, growing
up in Florida meant I actually saw the stuff once every couple of
years....
the design company (and store)
UMBRA has a philosophy I can't
agree with more -- beautiful, well-made items for the home that
everyonecan afford. You can give a room a whole new look for uner $100
(chair, table, clock and storage stuff); score some great serving trays for
a couple bucks, or pick out the coolest trash cans you never knew existed.
(I've got "hydra" all over the house!)
And here's the "best-of" list, the Hall
of Fame -- updated and cleared of dead links as often as I can manage.
