H.O.F. Badger Paper Toy Now Available

The Badger paper and pin toy designed by Sarah and I is now available at Toydigger. As I posted earlier, these are extremely limited, only 15 of each design will be made available for purchase at this site. The designers were given the remaining 10 of each run of 25 to do with what they will. We may sell a few at shows, but for the time being we're holding onto them. So, if you want one, now is the time.

The Dark Horse Book of Monsters now in stores

The Dark Horse Book of Monsters, the fourth and final entry in DHC's horror anthology series, is now available at more well-rounded comic shops and bookstores. It features a twenty-page story painted by Jill Thompson and written by Sarah and I, "A Dog and His Boy", which continues the adventures of the supernatural-battling canines (and feline) seen in the previous three volumes. Two of these stories, "Stray", and "The Unfamiliar", have won Eisner awards, the former for Best Painted/Multimedia Interior Art, the latter for Best Short Story.

Other contributors to the Book of Monsters include Mike Mignola (who offers up a new Hellboy story), Kurt Busiek, Keith Giffen, Scott Allie and Gary Giann, who provides illustrations for a prose short story by long-dead English horror writer William Hope Hodgson.

The Dark Horse Book of Monsters is a 96-page hardcover which retails for $15.95, and is from the fine folks at Dark Horse Comics (duh).

dork11cov.jpg

The latest issue of Dork is now available at select comic book shops (i.e., those that ordered it) as well as from SLG Publishing. This "all-gag" issue runs 26 pages -- counting the inside covers -- and contains a whopping 216 gag strips and panels. That comes to less than two cents a joke. Yikes! We work cheap here at the H.O.F., so the least you can do is find it in your hearts and wallets to pick up a copy of Dork #11, the first slab of solo cartooning from Evan Dorkin in four long years.

Bizarro World/Bill and Ted Vol 1 Ship Tomorrow

Both Bizarro World and Bill and Ted's Most Excellent Adventures vol 1 will ship to comic shops tomorrow, Wednesday, Feb 3rd.

Bizarro World is the long-awaited sequel to DC's Bizarro Comics anthology, featuring alternative and small press cartoonists, screenwriters, novelists, musicians and comedians contributing their oddball takes on the DC superhero universe. I drew a Kamandi script by Onion writer John Krewson, and wrote scripts for M. Wartella (Batman), Andi Watson (The Legion of Super-Heroes), Ivan Brunetti (Two-Face), and a page of newspaper-style gags and fake ads by R. Sikoryak. Other contributors include Dave Cooper, Dupuy and Berberian, Johnny Ryan, Bob Fingerman, Maggie Estep, James Kochalka, M. Doughty, Jaime Hernandez, Peter Bagge, Gilbert Hernandez, Chip Kidd, Tony Millionaire, Carol Lay, Craig Thompson, Roger Langridge, Dylan Horrocks, Ariel Bourdeaux, Rick Altergott, and Hunt Emerson. ($29.95 from DC Comics)

Bill and Ted's Most Excellent Adventures is the long-delayed first volume in a two-volume set reprinting all of the Bill and Ted's comics I did for Marvel in the early 90's. Volume 1 features the Bogus Journey film adaptation along with issues 1-4 of the spin-off series. I wrote and penciled the stories, which were inked by Stephen DeStefano (Instant Piano, "Mazing Man, storyboard artist on Welcome to Eltingville) and Marie Severin (artist on Marvel's Not Brand Ecch, Hulk and King Kull and house colorist for the legendary EC comics line). David Mazzucchelli (Rubber Blanket, City of Glass, Batman: Year One) pitches in as guest-inker on one page, believe it or not. The art has been toned to emulate the coloring of the original series and add depth to the line work, and the first volume features a cover gallery and an introduction by the author. Meaning, me. ($13.95 from Amaze Ink/SLG)
